As an affiliate business owner (not the product creator), you must make sure that you get commission from your prospect’s transaction. In order to prevent from losing your commission, you can use url/ domain forwarding.

With url/ domain forwarding you can make a better affiliate url/link.

If cloaking is just change the name of your url link, domain forwarding works in different way. In simple explanation, domain forwarding is redirecting your domain name to a website.

Which one do you prefer: http://www.domainname.com/ index.php?aff_code=12345 or just http://www.newdomainname.com/.  New domain name is the new one that you choose self.

There are some benefits with domain forwarding. They are:

• 1^st business owner’s benefit : You will get a short affiliate url link
• 2^nd business owner’s benefit : Name your link as you wish

As a business owner, you can name your link/domain according to your desire. You can name it anything. Usually people name it with unique, funny, easy to remember, and related to the topic you choose.

• 3^rd business owner’s benefit: Your affiliate link will looks like real main website address.

What does it means? It means they will trust your link and more likely buying from your affiliate link.

• 4^th business owner’s benefit: Overcome stolen commission.

With this method, your visitors generally don’t go to main website without use your new url.

If you use affiliate link like: www.domainname.com/index.php?aff_code=12345, isn’t it easy for visitor to just open new tab and use www.domainname.com and then you lost your prospect.

Anyway, there is something that you must pay for. You must buy a domain name.  So choose the best affiliate program to promote.

Preparation to do domain forwarding:

1.       Decide your domain name and buy that domain.

2.       Forward your domain name to your affiliate link. The step to do this may vary (depend on where you buy your domain. If you have problem with this, you can ask your domain seller to help you.

Before you buy domain name, make sure that your domain provider give free service for url forwarding. If they don’t, you (as a business owner) can search another domain provider.
